Mrs. Carolyn Frances Smith

Carolyn Frances Smith, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday evening, February 24, 2023, after enjoying a beautiful peaceful day. To some she was known as Carolyn, but many knew her as Amma - loving mother and grandmother who doted over her children and grandchildren along with their spouses, as well as her precious great-grand-babies. She loved each wholeheartedly and cherished the time she could spend with them. Carolyn spent most of her life alongside her late husband, Stephen D Smith Sr., serving and ministering to the needs of others. Her recent health challenges often prevented her involvement physically, but she would certainly lift others up in prayer as needed. She enjoyed crafting, reading, playing cards, watching movies, and even more so, she loved every minute she could get with family. Although greatly missed, the family has peace knowing she is with her Heavenly Father and reunited with her Love after all these years. Born in Hahira, Georgia, raised in south Florida, Carolyn was a longtime resident of Tallahassee before moving to Crawfordville then to Havana in the past few years. She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grand-babies: daughter, Nanette (Ken) Hammons and their children, Debin and Joey Hammons; daughter, Sandi (Dan) DeRoss and their children and grandchildren, Ryan (Kaylan) Smith, Lowen (6) and Legend (1); Hunter (Krystina) DeRoss; Brett (Victoria) DeRoss, Olivia (4) and one on the way; son, Stephen D. (Nicole) Smith Jr, III and their children, DJ and Jack; nephew, Mike; niece, Vickie; cousins like sisters, Susan and Pat; and many more dearly loved. Visitation will be Friday, March 3, 2023 from 5:30-7:30 PM at Abbey Funeral Home (4037 N. Monroe Street, Tallahassee). The funeral service will be Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at New Life Baptist Church (3625 Woodville Hwy, Tallahassee). Graveside service will follow at Tallahassee Memory Gardens (same as Abbey’s).
