Beverly P Smith

Beverly Perego Smith, died peacefully in her home on November 19, 2024, at the age of 71 after a yearlong battle with ovarian cancer. Beverly was born January 12, 1953, in Cambridge Ohio, moved to Palm Beach Florida, and attended North Shore High School. She was a bright spot on the cheerleading squad, she made lifelong friends and excelled academically, graduating in 1971. She moved to Tallahassee Florida pursuing a degree in nursing. Her career as a labor and delivery nurse took shape at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Beverly delivered countless babies, and she helped train the next generation of nurses. Her legacy continues to this day in the lives of countless nurses that continue in her tradition of caring. Beverly devoted her life to helping others, be it family or strangers, the epitome of love, light, and peace, her gentle touch, and empathetic heart made her a pillar of support to the countless lives she helped. Her love and grace in being a nurse paled in comparison to where she truly excelled, being a mother of two amazing children, both of whom continue the traditions and values she instilled in them. However, the true, pure, and joyous version of Beverly was most evident, not when she was “Mom”, but rather how her four grandchildren will forever remember her: “Nana”. She retired from Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare in March of 2023, transitioning her life to enjoying her pursuits: going to the beach, spending time with her grandchildren, cooking (both extravagant meals and holiday cookies), Christmas time, and caring for her many beautiful plants. Never stopping the pursuits of her heart, she got engaged! And even though she only had a brief time to enjoy her retirement, her engagement and her family, she wouldn’t want anyone to feel bad about that, because that’s not Beverly. She was a true caregiver, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selfless devotion that will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. Though our hearts are heavy with the loss, we take solace in knowing she is now reunited with passed loved ones, especially her loving father and mother: Bill and Eileen Perego. She is survived by her two children: Breanna Smith Viscardo and Cody Richard Smith. Four Siblings: William Perego, Charles Perego, Karen Huffman, and Kathy May. Four grandchildren Mallory Viscardo, Christian Viscardo, Flint Smith and Wyatt Smith. And her Fiancé: Bob McCully. A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on 11/23/24, at Abbey Funeral Home in Tallahassee, FL. A viewing will be from 2:00pm to 3:00pm followed by a memorial service from 3:00-4:00pm.
