Mr. Dennis Larry Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dennis "Larry" Smith, 75, of Tallahassee, passed away in his home, surrounded by family, on July 29th, 2022. Larry was born on May 27th, 1947, to William Coulette and Iris Chason Smith. He graduated from Rickards High School in 1966. At a young age, Larry learned to be a hard worker by watching his father. He loved to join his father on jobs in Florida and Georgia. He learned to become a welder at the family business, Smith Welding. His next career path took him on the road hauling cattle, but he insisted he was a “bull hauler.” Later, he worked with Solomon Construction, Jimmy Crowder, and Sandco to manage construction sites around town. Then, he began working with Crowder Gulf doing storm clean-ups at multiple locations around the U.S. His last career path was co-owning North Florida Wood Recycling with Steve Long. After retiring, he loved riding around town with Sammy Crowder looking at job sites. Survivors include his daughter and caregiver, Kelly Smith, brother, Joe Smith (and wife Sylvia), sister-in-law, Linda Smith, one very special cousin, DeeDee Chason, 3 grandchildren, Ashleigh Ottley, Tyler Zuschlag, and Scotty Wells, 1 great-grandchild, Braden Ottley, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his children, Craig, Wendy, and Travis and their extended families, all of Blountstown. He was predeceased by his parents, William Coulette and Iris Chason Smith, and brother, William “Bill” Coulette Smith Jr. Memorial Services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church on Friday, August 5th, 2022. Visitation will be held at 11:30 AM with the funeral following at 12:30 PM. Burial will be at Tallahassee Memory Gardens.
