Mrs. Ruth Joanna Abbott

July 20, 1947 - February 12, 2022

Joanna Alford Abbott, 74, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, with her loved ones by her side. A daughter of Sherman F. Alford and Katie E. Crum Alford, of blessed memory, she was born on July 20, 1947, in Apalachicola, Florida. She is also preceded in death by a son, Jason Abbott; and siblings, Betty Dowd, Wayne Alford, Judie Vause and John Alford. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Sonny B. Abbott; daughters, Krista Abbott, Amy Darras (husband, Joe) and Jeri Lynn Kleinert (husband, John); grandchildren, Nora Darras, Raniya Darras, Muhammad Darras, Summer Darras, Radwan Darras and Nick Kleinert. She is also survived by siblings, Floyd Alford, Lloyd Alford and Carolyn Randall (husband, Larry); choice sisters, Barbara Windheim and Kim Jusino; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She worked for and retired the State of Florida as an Accountant. She enjoyed going out to eat with her friends, watching television, staying abreast of the news and current events, and the occasional Netflix binge. She deeply loved her family, and spending quality time with her kids and grandkids was her absolute favorite thing to do. Visitation is from 1:30 until 2:30 PM, Friday, February 18, 2022, at Abbey Funeral Home, with the funeral beginning at 2:30 PM. Interment follows in Tallahassee Memory Gardens, Garden of Serenity.
