Mr. Jonathan Kyle Flowers

Jonathan Kyle Flowers passed away at the age of 41 years old on Tuesday December 6, 2022. Though Kyle is gone far too soon, he left this world a better place with his gentle spirit and mischievous sense of humor. Kyle was born on September 28, 1981 to Kenneth and Robyn Flowers in Birmingham, Alabama where he grew up excelling in sports, school and life. After graduating from Pelham High School with honors in 1999, Kyle went on to college at Auburn University. Upon graduation in 2003, as an Honor Program student with a double major in International Business Economics and Finance, he went to work for Morgan Keegan. After working in the finance industry for several years, Kyle moved to Tallahassee Florida to be closer to his family who had relocated from Alabama. He spent a few semesters at Florida State University getting another degree in English Literature while studying for the LSAT and GRE and trying to decide between going to law school or getting his Masters and PhD. While at FSU, he was hired at Applebee’s, his first restaurant job. He realized he really enjoyed the restaurant business and interacting with people again so he put his school plans aside for a while to see how things played out in the restaurant industry. He fully embraced this industry while working, learning and managing various Tallahassee establishments such as Carrabba’s, Ted’s Montana Grill, Canopy Roads Café and Spearit before becoming part owner of Horizons Bar and Grille in December 2020. Kyle is survived by his mother, Robyn Dawson Flowers; brother, Matt Flowers; his father, Kenneth Flowers, Jeanette Flowers and brother, Cody Flowers; Grandmother, Nona Dawson; Grandfather, Ansel Flowers; Uncle and Aunts, Steve (Brenda) Dawson, Elizabeth Dawson and Fran (Tyler) Shewmake; Cousins, John (Elsie) Dawson and Alexandra Shewmake; and beloved kitties, Sylvester, Felix, Milo and Louie. Kyle is predeceased by his Grandmother, Joyce Flowers and Grandfather, James Dawson. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday January 13, 2023 at 11:00 am at Abbey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:30 am.
