It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Tao Van Lý, who left us peacefully on January 15, 2025, at the age of 66. Born in Vietnam in 1958, Tao’s life began in a small village, where he became known for his kind heart, strong moral values, and unwavering devotion to his family. Tao’s spirit was a source of strength for all who knew him, and his love for those close to him was boundless. His infectious sense of humor and laughter could light up any room, and his jokes always brought smiles to the faces of everyone around him. Tao’s ability to bring joy and laughter, even in difficult times, was one of his many gifts. In 1980, Tao moved to the United States, where he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Tao sacrificed his own comfort and well-being to ensure his children had the opportunities to succeed. He deeply believed in the value of hard work and the importance of supporting his family, always putting their needs before his own. Tao was a devoted husband to his wife, Van Dang, the love of his life, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. Together, they raised three wonderful children who continue to carry forward his legacy of hard work, integrity, and humor. Tao’s children were the center of his world, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments, offering constant guidance and love. Tao was also a beloved father-in-law, and his role as a grandfather brought him immeasurable joy. His grandkids—Dillan, Colin, Trent, Jazmin, Kyra, Siena, and Eliana—were the light of his life. He delighted in watching them grow, learn, and thrive, treasuring every moment spent with them. His love for them was limitless. Tao is survived by his loving wife, Van Dang, his children Tuan Lý (Brittany), Tung Lý, and Trang George (Mike), his grandchildren, and his siblings Nhon Lý, Thanh Lý, Đẹp Lý, and Loi Lý. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep love for his family, kindness that touched the lives of all who knew him, and his ability to bring joy and laughter into every moment. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind, and his legacy of love, morality, dedication, and resilience will never be forgotten. Funeral Details: A private funeral service for family and close friends will be held on January 24, 2025, at Abbey Funeral Home and Tallahassee Memory Gardens, located at 4037 N Monroe St, Tallahassee, FL 32303. Schedule of Events: • 11:00 AM: Guests are welcome to arrive. • 12:00 PM: Monks will perform sutra chanting for approximately one hour. This Buddhist tradition helps guide the soul of the deceased, offers blessings, and brings peace and comfort to the family. • 1:00 PM (approximately): Speeches and eulogies will be shared by family and friends. • Following speeches: The burial service will take place at the same location. Additional Information: Refreshments will be provided during the service for guests.
